# Adapt to project
`agentspine` scaffolds a setup that knows nothing about the repository: the quality gate's commands were inferred from lockfiles and, unless a human confirmed them, are written commented out; and the shipped skills look for the project's commands and docs in a **project map** that does not exist yet. This skill turns that skeleton into this project's config. It is re-runnable: fill only what is missing or what the focus argument names, and never overwrite filled content without asking.
**Facts come from the code; decisions come from the user.** Never invent a command, a convention, or a doc location. What the code cannot tell you becomes a question, or stays open and is listed as deferred in the report.
## 1. Inventory
1. Confirm you are on a feature branch, not the trunk, with a clean tree: this change is reviewed like any other.
2. Read `.agents/quality.toml`, `.agents/worktree.env` and `AGENTS.md`. Note which gate commands are still commented out and whether a `## Project map` section exists outside the `<!-- agentspine:start -->` / `<!-- agentspine:end -->` markers.
3. Collect the instruction files the repository already had: `CLAUDE.md`, `.cursor/rules/`, `.github/copilot-instructions.md`, `CONTRIBUTING.md`, a style guide. Those are primary sources: their project knowledge belongs in `AGENTS.md`, never discarded.
**Done when** you can list every open slot: each commented-out or missing gate command, an empty `WORKTREE_INSTALL` in a project that in
