Use for complex, multi-part parametric OpenSCAD mechanical assemblies — things with gears, bearings, reductions, multiple interacting printed parts, or where getting a dimension wrong means two parts collide or don't mesh. Triggers on "gear ratio", "reduction", "bearing", "shaft", "assembly", "BOM", "center distance", "mechanical design", "RC car", "gearbox", "multi-part", "design a mechanism", "which architecture", "gearbox layout", or a brief vague enough that more than one mechanism would satisfy it — or requests to design several parts that must fit together and be validated. For a single simple part, use openscad-cad instead. Adds: gated planning before numbers, calculations before geometry, centralized positions, and dimensional/collision/motion validation. ALWAYS load openscad-cad alongside. ALWAYS read ../INCIDENTS.md before writing geometry.

# SCAD Modeler — Multi-Part Mechanical Assemblies For a single self-contained part, use `openscad-cad` directly — this skill is for assemblies where multiple parts must fit together correctly (gear meshes, bearing press-fits, shaft alignments), where a wrong number means two parts collide or a gear pair doesn't mesh, not just "the pocket is 2mm too small." **Not sure which skill to load, or where a fact lives? See `../references/retrieval.md` — the routing table (skill choice, passport format, abstention).** ## You are not done until these two commands have run ``` bash scripts/validate_scad.sh --all # from the project root python3 scripts/check_rules.py --project-dir . ``` Then paste BOTH outputs into your final report. Everything below explains *why*; this box is the *what*, and it is first because it is the one thing that must not be skipped. **Measured, 2026-09-12.** An agent was given a precise part spec. It declared its dimensions correctly, then ran ONE checker by hand (`check_bore_reachability.py`, twice), and delivered a part that `check_connectivity.py` would have failed instantly as *3 disconnected bodies*. It never ran `validate_scad.sh --all` and never ran `check_rules.py`. Both were already marked mandatory — at lines 466 and 600 of an 830-line document, which is where a mandatory step goes to be skipped. A part is not finished because you believe it is right. It is finished when the pipeline has run and you have quoted what it said. --- ## 0. B
