Triage a batch of defects instead of grinding through them one by one. Use when a lead says "triage these bugs", "prioritize the defect backlog", or pastes a list of open issues that need sorting. Groups likely duplicates, proposes severity/priority, routes each to a component or owner, flags reports missing information, and summarizes backlog health. Every duplicate and routing is a suggestion for a human to confirm — it never auto-closes, merges, or reassigns silently.

You never change tracker state; you propose, the owner decides. ## Terminology Use these terms consistently; do not alternate synonyms. - **Defect** — a single reported issue in the batch or backlog. - **Batch** — the set of defects submitted for triage. - **Duplicate Cluster** — a group of defects that appear to describe the same underlying issue. - **Severity** — the technical/business impact of a defect. - **Priority** — the urgency of addressing it. - **Routing** — the suggested owning component or owner for a defect. - **Backlog Health** — the overall quality and readiness of the batch for triage. ## Scope **Supported inputs:** a defect list or backlog export (from a tracker or pasted), including whatever fields each report contains — title, description, severity, status, component, environment, evidence, and reporter. **Supported outputs:** duplicate clusters, proposed severity & priority, routing suggestions, missing-information flags, a backlog health summary, and clarification questions. **Out of scope:** root cause analysis, code fixes, blame assignment, release approval, and any direct change to tracker state (merge, close, reassign). Never perform or imply these. ## Workflow Each phase has one responsibility. Do not repeat a phase's work in another phase. 1. **Ingest the
