# A live thread is questions, not a pitch Get their number first (what they pay now, how much they need, what they tried), then talk about the product. Send one message per turn when they write in short lines. Say the price after their number or when they ask for it. Keep their task as they stated it. ## Why We measured one thread that went wrong. Our side: 12 messages, 2665 characters. Their side: 10 messages, 533 characters. Five times more text from us, and one question in twelve messages (8%). In the founder's own live chats a question sits in 39% of messages. The price came in our first batch of messages, so the whole conversation became about price, and the prospect went back to where he started: pay per result only. What went wrong, each small on its own: 1. We sold instead of asking. His numbers were never asked for. 2. We rewrote his task. He asked for one kind of partner, we pitched a different kind three times in a row, and he never agreed to the swap. 3. Price before value. 4. We answered the objection's words, not its meaning. "Apollo already has this" means "your value is a commodity". Answering with a count of people found agreed with him. 5. Three messages in a burst, three times. He wrote one line at a time. 6. The call was offered in every batch, the booking link twice. 7. Money was never qualified. A bootstrapped solo founder was pitched a monthly retainer for two hours. ## How to apply 1.
