# A cliche is a frequency, not a word Judge the batch, not the phrase. In one batch: no exact duplicates, no 5-word phrase in more than 30% of messages, no closing sentence in more than 25% of messages. Check the batch before it goes into the queue. ## Why Ban lists move the smell, they do not remove it. We banned "curious" in our own outreach. Within a week "worth 15 minutes" took its place: 58 times in ten days across all accounts. Ban that one and a third phrase with the same job shows up. A phrase is not machine-sounding by itself. A human can write "worth 15 min to see if it fits?" and it reads as live, because it appears once. The same line in half the batch is the signature of a mail merge. An audit of 617 of our own texts showed how far this goes. For one account, 47 of 136 messages over ten days were the same text with the name swapped. On the same day we rewrote a queue under a new rule and reproduced the problem immediately: 39 identical endings. The batch is written in one pass, and the hand drifts to the average. A rule in the prompt does not stop it, even for the one who wrote the rule. The frequency check also catches what a ban list cannot. In a batch of 20 personal messages we measured one 5-word phrase in 90% of texts while exact duplicates were 0%. Replies still came (13 of 20), but people recognised the template and said so. ## How to apply 1. Write the batch. 2. Run the check on the whole batch, plus what already went out to the same audience rece
