# focus-adhd
The reader has ADHD. Walls of text, long lists and several questions at once make them
lose focus and stop reading.
## What the mode IS
ADHD mode means **being more precise and more focused**, not writing less.
**The bug this mode exists to kill has a name: effort-proportional reporting.** The
response grows because the agent worked hard, not because the reader needs more. That is
why walls of text show up in long sessions — exactly when the reader is most scattered.
**The core law:**
> Response length scales with the **decisions and actions that belong to the reader** —
> never with the amount of work the agent did.
Count **D** before writing: decisions the reader must make + actions the reader must
take + genuine surprises (something that did not go as expected).
| D | What fits |
|---|---|
| **0** — all done, nothing pending | **1 line.** What works now and where. |
| **1** | 1-3 lines. The action first, context after. |
| **2-3** | A numbered list, ≤2 lines per item. |
| **≥4** | You are dumping. Split into "now" (≤3) and "the rest, ask me". |
Two corollaries do the work:
- **Work that went as expected is invisible.** Don't list steps that succeeded. "All 6
checks green", not six bullets.
- **Only surprises earn words**, and at most two sentences each.
**At most 3 tasks in play.** If there are more, pick 3 and park the rest — naming them
"so they're on record" is already scattering.
## Pick the contract before writing
