# WordPress + Elementor page automation (via MCP / REST)
## What this skill does
Turns a structured JSON config into a complete Elementor product page or blog
article. It writes the Elementor widget tree directly into the page's
`_elementor_data` post-meta while keeping the result editable in Elementor.
It covers the full pipeline, learned the hard way:
1. Connect a WordPress site over **MCP** (Automattic `wordpress-mcp` plugin) or
plain **REST**, authenticated with an **Application Password**.
2. Generate a valid Elementor JSON tree (sections → columns → widgets) from a
product or blog config.
3. Write it to a page and **verify persistence**.
## When to use it
- "Connect my WordPress site to this project via MCP."
- "Build an Elementor product/landing page from this spec / this Word doc."
- "Create an Elementor blog article with a linked table of contents."
- "Create N pages with the same layout but different content."
- "Automate WordPress page creation."
## The three-minute mental model
A normal WordPress page stores its body in `post_content` (Gutenberg blocks).
**Elementor ignores that** and renders from post-meta instead:
| Meta key | Value |
|---|---|
| `_elementor_data` | JSON string: the entire section/column/widget tree |
| `_elementor_edit_mode` | `"builder"` |
| `_elementor_template_type` | `"wp-page"` |
| `_elementor_version` | e.g. `"3.23.0"` |
So "building an Elementor page by API" = **writing valid JSON into
`_elementor_data`**. Everything else
