# resume-task
Loads a checkpoint written by `save-progress`.
## How to call it
Most recent checkpoint (the usual case -- the user does not need to supply a filename):
```
node .claude/skills/resume-task/resume-task.js
```
A specific checkpoint:
```
node .claude/skills/resume-task/resume-task.js progress/claude-progress-2026-08-24T04-30-00-000Z.json
```
See what is available:
```
node .claude/skills/resume-task/resume-task.js --list
```
## Response
```json
{
"success": true,
"source": "path to the checkpoint used",
"format": "json | legacy-text",
"savedAt": "ISO timestamp",
"task": "...",
"progress": "...",
"resumePlan": "...",
"notes": ""
}
```
On failure: `{ "success": false, "error": "..." }` with a non-zero exit code.
Legacy plain-text checkpoints from the original version of this project are still readable.
## After loading
1. Read the resume plan in full before doing anything.
2. Reconstruct the task state from `progress` -- re-read the files it names rather than
trusting the summary, since they may have changed since the checkpoint was written.
3. Confirm the plan with the user in one line, then continue from the first next step.
4. Resume normal `check-usage` discipline -- the reason the task paused has not gone away.
