# Landing Page SEO
Most landing pages are built for paid traffic, `noindex`ed as an afterthought or not at all, and rank for nothing. Meanwhile the same company builds blog content that ranks and doesn't convert.
The gap between them is closeable. A landing page that ranks organically converts at paid-page rates without the paid cost, and it keeps working after the campaign stops.
## Which landing pages should rank
Not all of them. Decide deliberately.
| Type | Index? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| **Use-case pages** ("X for Y") | Yes | Real query, real intent, durable |
| **Industry pages** | Yes | Real query, durable |
| **Solution pages** | Yes | If it maps to a genuine query |
| **Comparison pages** | Yes | High intent, heavily searched |
| **Location pages** | Yes, if genuine | See `multi-location-brand-seo` |
| **Campaign pages** (one promotion) | No | Temporary, thin, duplicative |
| **Ad-variant pages** (A/B copies) | No | Near-duplicates by design |
| **Gated asset pages** | Usually no | Nothing to rank |
| **Post-click paid pages** | No | Built for a specific ad, not a query |
**The A/B variant problem is the one that causes damage.** A landing page tool generating twenty near-identical variants, all indexable, is a duplicate content problem that can affect the whole domain. Variants must be `noindex`, or canonicalised to the primary.
