# Manufacturing and Industrial SEO
Industrial buyers search by specification, part number and application — not by benefit. An engineer looking for a valve searches the pressure rating and the material, not "reliable flow control solutions".
Most manufacturer websites are written the other way round, which is why they rank for nothing an engineer would type.
## What ranking here actually looks like
- **Part numbers and model codes** — extremely high intent, and often uncontested except by distributors reselling you
- **Specification queries** ("316 stainless ball valve 1 inch") — the core technical search behaviour
- **Application queries** ("valve for high temperature steam") — how a buyer searches when they know the problem not the part
- **Comparison of materials or standards** ("304 vs 316 stainless") — winnable authority content
- **Industry directory terms** — dominated by industrial marketplaces and directories
**Your own part numbers may be ranked by your distributors rather than by you.** That's the cheapest win available: a page per part or product family on your own domain, with the specification as text.
## The pages that matter
| Page | Intent | Why it matters here |
|---|---|---|
| **Product/part pages with full specs** | Buy | The core. One per product family, specs as text |
| **Application pages** | Compare | "For [application]" — how buyers actually search |
| **Technical guides and standards explainers** | Know | Authority, links, and AI citation |
