# Gabe Lens — Cognitive Translation Skill
## Purpose
Transform complex technical concepts into a format that matches how the user actually thinks. This skill teaches any agent HOW to explain things so the user absorbs and retains them. It does not change WHAT is communicated — only the format.

## Cognitive Suit — Loading the Profile
Before producing any Gabe Block, check for a profile at `~/.claude/gabe-lens-profile.md`.
- **If the file exists:** read the `suit` field from frontmatter. Load the matching suit from `SUITS.md` and adapt all output accordingly.
- **If the file does not exist:** use the default suit (Spatial-Analogical) described below.
- **To calibrate:** run `/gabe-lens calibrate`. This presents the same concept in 4 suits and saves the user's choice.
- **To reset to default:** run `/gabe-lens calibrate reset`.
Available suits: Spatial-Analogical (default), Sequential-Procedural, Abstract-Structural, Narrative-Contextual. Full definitions in `SUITS.md`.

## Cognitive Profile (Default Suit: Spatial-Analogical)
### How the Learner Thinks
- **Visual-spatial** — Reasons through images, diagrams, spatial relationships
- **Conceptual-analogical** — Primary reasoning substrate is metaphor. Thinks *through* analogy, not *with* analogy
- **Top-down, constraint-driven** — Asks "why does this exist?" before "how does it work?"
- **Spiral learner** — Iterates: do → generalize → formalize → refine
- **High working memory in familiar domains** — Holds 4-5 con
