# Fact Checking ## Inputs Require the artifact, intended audience/decision, risk level, source registry, claim ledger, and verification date. Ask for missing source material only when it cannot be discovered safely. ## Workflow 1. Extract and atomize every externally verifiable claim. 2. Classify it as fact, interpretation, hypothesis, recommendation, or decision. 3. Classify the evidence layer: scientifically supported, model-aligned, philosophical, symbolic, author hypothesis, entertainment, technical observation, or market observation. 4. Open each cited source and locate the exact supporting content. 5. Check author/publisher, publication/update date, access date, source type, primary-vs-secondary status, and relevant limitations. 6. Verify changing facts against current first-party evidence. 7. Search for corrections, retractions, breaking changes, conflicting findings, and plausible counterexamples. 8. Rate each claim `supported`, `qualified`, `contested`, `unsupported`, or `unverifiable` and assign calibrated confidence. 9. Write corrections that narrow the claim; never upgrade evidence through polished wording. 10. Update claim/source records and hand findings to a separate maker or Conductor. ## Severity - **Blocker:** harmful, fabricated, legally/clinically material, or central unsupported claim. - **Major:** citation mismatch, stale current fact, omitted contradiction, or overgeneralization. - **Minor:** imprecise wording or incomplete non-material metadata.
