**Read the CV's field before scoring.** The rubric is weighted for leadership
CVs in any profession: 55 of the 100 points are domain-neutral and the rest
have a mapping table for what counts as evidence in engineering, clinical,
teaching, finance and operations roles. Name the domain you scored against in
the output. A score produced against a rubric you quietly adapted looks
comparable to other scores and is not.
Score a CV honestly and specifically, then hand back a number that's auditable and fixes that are actionable. Two modes:
- **Standalone quality** (no JD): how strong is this CV for engineering-leadership roles, and what would raise it.
- **Targeted match** (JD supplied): the above **plus** a separate ATS keyword match and qualification-fit read against that job.
The number is a sanity check, not truth — real ATS platforms don't emit a score a recruiter sees, and web tools disagree by ~20 points on the same file. So always lead with the breakdown and the fixes, and say what the score does and doesn't mean.
## Hard rules
- **Never coach toward fabrication.** If a job description wants a keyword the candidate can't truthfully claim, report it as a gap; do not suggest inventing experience, titles, or scope. This is the line that separates honest CV help from the tools that quietly tell people to lie.
