# Competitor Profiling **The goal of competitor analysis is not gathering information but picking 3 "places we can win."** Collecting material without a conclusion makes it waste within 2 weeks. ## 6 Research Dimensions (80% derivable from URLs alone) 1. **Positioning** — hero copy verbatim, who they name, which category they pin themselves to 2. **Pricing & packaging** — plan structure (seats/usage/hybrid), free trial yes/no, annual discount rate (~20% standard) 3. **Channels** — paid ads or not (check the ad library), content tempo, community size, newsletter 4. **Message strengths/weaknesses** — collect star ratings and repeated complaint phrases from review sites (G2, app stores) — complaints are literally our entry angle 5. **Product scope** — features they have and we don't, features only we have (visualize as a 2×2 matrix) 6. **Weakness signals** — hiring direction (what they can't do), pricing-overhaul history, support response speed ## Judgment Criteria - Cap comparisons at 3~5. Beyond that it's management cost, not analytical confidence - Competitor pages are for "copy swipe" only — copying gives you no brand ownership and locks in the #2 frame - When building a comparison page (e.g. {competitor} alternative), **facts and verifiable claims only**, no bashing (legal risk) ## Output ``` # Competitor Profile — {competitor name} ({date}) ## One-line summary (what they sell + what they're losing) ## 6-dimension table (with evidence URL each) ## Top 5 complaint key
