# acestep-music — ACE-Step 1.5 music on a local ComfyUI
Core philosophy: **the caption is the instrument, and the raw render is not the
deliverable.** ACE-Step reliably produces usable music, but it hands you audio
that peaks above full scale. Generation is half the job; mastering is the other
half, and skipping it is why AI music sounds harsh under a voiceover.
## What this is good at, and what it isn't
Honest scope, from listening to real output:
- **Very good at**: instrumental beds, background loops, underscore for video,
genre pieces that need to feel right rather than chart.
- **Adequate at**: full tracks with structure. They hold up, with a mild
synthetic quality on some instruments.
- **Not a substitute for**: a produced record. Treat output as a strong bed you
can mix under something, not a finished single.
If someone needs "music behind my video that isn't copyright-flagged," this
nails it. If they need a radio single, set expectations first.
