# Brand Mention Scanner Skill ## Core Insight Brand mentions correlate more strongly with AI visibility than traditional backlinks. An Ahrefs brand study (2025, ~75,000 brands, cited as reported — see [`docs/SOURCES.md`](../../docs/SOURCES.md)) found **unlinked brand mentions** — references to a brand name with no hyperlink — predict whether AI systems cite and recommend a brand better than Domain Rating or backlink count. > **This measures off-page authority signals, not answer-engine outcomes.** Wikipedia/Wikidata are > checked live via their APIs; the other platforms are assessed via search, not by querying the AI > engines. A high Brand Authority Score means the *signals* AI trusts are present — it does not > confirm any engine actually names you. For that live check, run the free scan at > **[areyoufoundbyai.com](https://areyoufoundbyai.com)**. The critical finding: **the platform the mention sits on matters enormously.** A mention on YouTube or Reddit carries far more weight for AI citation than one on a low-authority blog, because AI training data and retrieval systems disproportionately index high-engagement platforms. This inverts a core SEO assumption. In SEO, a backlink from a high-DR site is the gold standard. In GEO, an unlinked mention on Reddit or in a YouTube description may be worth more than a dofollow backlink from a DR 70 blog. ## Platforms that matter AI systems weight a handful of platforms far above backlinks. geo-visibility

Measure whether and how prominently a brand appears in AI answers across engines from a prompt set — detect per-answer mention (present/absent), position (first-mentioned, recommended), and surrounding context, then build a prompt×surface presence matrix with a per-engine and blended visibility rate. Use when the user asks does AI mention my brand, am I visible in ChatGPT/Perplexity/Gemini, check my AI visibility, how often does AI recommend me, build a presence matrix, measure brand visibility across AI engines, or is my brand showing up in AI answers.

ai-citation-tracker

Track brand mentions, URL citations, and share-of-voice across the 2026 AI search surface — ChatGPT (with browsing), Perplexity, Claude (with search), Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Bing Copilot, You.com, Phind, and Microsoft Copilot. Polls a configurable query set per engine on a schedule; logs whether your brand was mentioned, whether your URL was cited, who your competitors were, and how all of that moved week over week. Outputs share-of-voice dashboards, weekly delta reports, competitor matrices, and citation-gap analysis (queries where you SHOULD be cited but aren't). Closes the single biggest gap in legacy SEO platforms — Visibly AI / Semrush / Ahrefs / Moz / Conductor all under-cover this surface in 2026, even though AI Overviews now answer 30%+ of informational queries with zero clicks. TRIGGER on "AI citation tracking", "share of voice AI", "ChatGPT citations", "Perplexity citations", "AI Overview tracking", "brand mentions in AI", "LLM visibility", "GEO tracking", "AEO measurement", "AI search
