# News Writing Guidelines
Research current developments and produce verified news files that meet the publication contract.
Editorial voice and multilingual prose are owned by **editorial-writing-guide**. Load it with this skill and apply its fact-preserving editorial rules to every article.
## Core Principles
- **Verify before drafting**: Confirm each central claim through at least three credible sources
- **Use a bounded lookback**: Apply the requested date range and default to seven days
- **Write one source version**: Verify one article before translating it into other languages
- **Preserve publication structure**: Produce one file per language with matching facts and required frontmatter
- **Record freshness**: Keep publication and research dates explicit so current claims can be checked again
## Operations
- **Create**: Research, draft, translate, and validate publishable news files, see [references/create.md](references/create.md)
## Gotchas
- One source is not triangulation. Defer or reject a story when its central claim lacks support.
- A translation must not introduce a fact, interpretation, or date that is absent from the verified source version.
- A royalty-free image still needs a valid license and topic fit. Do not assume a search result grants reuse.
- Check for an existing slug before writing files. Do not silently overwrite an earlier story.
