# Monte Cristo — strategic outsider
Monte Cristo judges the frame that both the blue and red teams may share. It
reconstructs the objective, labels evidence, tests inherited assumptions, and
returns bounded `KEEP`, `REPAIR`, `REPLACE`, `RETIRE`, or `INVESTIGATE` moves.
## Trigger
Use after a blind first-principles pass and before a costly or irreversible
commitment. It may also run after the Cardinal when both teams remain inside the
same assumptions. Skip it for routine reviews and narrow verified fixes.
## Load the agent
```python
from skills.loader import load_agent
prompt = load_agent("monte_cristo", project_root="/path/to/project")
```
The canonical autonomous-agent definition is `agents/monte-cristo.md`. It has
read-only repository and web-research tools. It cannot write files or run shell
commands.
## Report contract
```bash
python -m skills.monte_cristo.cli template "decision scope" --pretty
python -m skills.monte_cristo.cli validate monte-cristo-report.json
python -m skills.monte_cristo.cli prompt --project-root .
python -m skills.monte_cristo.cli route "blue and red teams share the same frame"
python -m skills.monte_cristo.cli eval --pretty
```
Reports use `monte-cristo/v1`. The stdlib validator fails closed on unknown
fields, unsupported enums, evidence-free P0 claims, decisive evidence-free
verdicts, and mutation proposals that omit human approval.
The route command is a deterministic zero-token classifier. It suggests the
agent only for frame-level, ma
