# Prompt Shake Tree-shaking for prompts. Every line is **guilty until proven load-bearing**. The goal is the leanest prompt that still covers 100% of needed cases — minimal-that-covers beats maximal. ## Purpose - Strip bloat from system prompts, skill files, and instruction docs so they cover 100% of needed cases in the fewest lines. - Subtraction, not redesign. ## Targets it hunts - Over-explanation the model already knows by default - Duplicate instructions (same rule stated N ways/places) - Subset/mutually-inclusive rules (one rule already implies another) - Redundant never-fires branches / dead edge cases - Vague filler that adds tokens but not behavior ## The proofs - **Coverage** — cut it: does a real required case now fall through? If not → cut. - **Redundancy** — is this already said elsewhere? → collapse to one. - **Subsumption** — is this a subset of a broader rule present? → fold in. - **Default-knowledge** — would a competent model do this unprompted? → cut. - **Load-bearing** — does output actually change with vs. without this line? If not → cut. ## Workflow - Auto-start on the working diff; audit the changed/added lines (no scope question). - Read the whole file to catch cross-file issues (a new line duplicating an untouched one), but keep recommendations inside the diff window — target the new line, not the old. - Audit line-by-line, tag each survivor with the proof that keeps it alive. - Report the audit in a scannable way so the human can understand ...

unhobble

Audit and rightsize a context surface — CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, a SKILL.md, a system prompt, or a single prompt — against the Claude-5 context-engineering reversals. Measures the surface (token budget, how much of it is phrased as hard rules vs judgment, near-duplicate sections, contradiction candidates, filesystem-derivable content, progressive-disclosure gaps), then adjudicates each section keep / relocate / delete using a grounding-aware predicate: prose backed by an independent mechanism is decorative and free to cut, prose that is the only carrier of a behavior is a real bet. Also rewrites prompts and skills from prohibition-form into judgment-form. Anthropic deleted >80% of Claude Code's system prompt for Claude 5 with no eval loss; this is the repeatable version of that cut. Use when: (1) a CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md has grown and you want to know what is safe to remove, (2) an agent is ignoring or colliding with its own instructions, (3) a prompt is long and over-constrained and underperforming, (4) auditin

rebuild-prompt

Rebuild a rough prompt into a polished, ready-to-paste one, with the best-fit installed skills, subagents and MCP tools routed to each task, plus a model and effort level per task. Use when the user runs /rebuild-prompt, or asks to rebuild, polish, or add the right skills or agents to a prompt they have written. Returns the prompt for the user to paste back into this same conversation and run themselves; never executes it.
