author-skill

Featured

Use when authoring a NEW rsc skill or editing an existing one — scoping it to one job, writing the description that decides whether it ever loads, splitting the body into references/, writing its evals, auditing it against the rubric. NOT building a product feature (that is `specify`) and NOT designing an agent loop (that is `building-agents`).

# author-skill — write skills that trigger and teach This is the **meta skill**: it authors and edits the other skills in the rsc catalog. A skill is two things bolted together — a **description that fires at the right moment**, and a **body that makes the agent better once it fires**. Most skills fail on the first. Treat them as two separate engineering problems with two separate quality bars. Where the SDD chain (`specify` → `plan` → … → `ship`) builds *product*, `author-skill` builds *the tools that build product*. Use it whenever a skill is born or edited. **Not this skill — delegate:** a product feature specced or planned → `../specify/SKILL.md`, `../plan/SKILL.md`. An autonomous agent or tool-calling loop → `../building-agents/SKILL.md`. Generic project docs or a wiki article → the `../harness/SKILL.md` 02-DOCS engine. Bootstrapping a workspace or profiling the user → `../init/SKILL.md`. Read `02-DOCS/wiki/harness/user-profile.md` and work at the accompaniment dial it records; `../init/SKILL.md` owns that dial and sets it. With no profile, default to non-technical framing and ask for the technical level and the dial before going deep — skill authoring is itself a technical act, so many users want more narration here than they do elsewhere. ## What a skill is (the anatomy) ```text skills/<id>/ ├── SKILL.md the body: frontmatter (name + description + origin) then the prose ├── references/ progressive-disclosure detail, loaded only when the bod...

author-skill

Author a new skill for this repo end to end — take a topic, check for existing coverage, drill the official docs behind it, write a filled handoff brief to docs/handoffs/, then draft the SKILL.md and run the post-draft checks. Use when asked to write, author, create, or scaffold a new skill, or when a drift-audit new-skill candidate has been accepted. Encodes this repo's own conventions rather than generic skill advice — verb naming for behavioral skills and fabric-/pbir-/pbid- prefixes for platform ones, the description as the entire trigger mechanism, long detail split into references/, lint-frontmatter.py, and which tree a new skill belongs in and its deploy step. Drills before it writes and never encodes an unverified claim. Ends at a linted draft plus a fresh-session test plan; writes no test fixtures and does not commit — fixtures and validation are test-skill's, which reads the brief back off disk. To fold a session learning into guidance that already exists, use learn instead.

skill-authoring

Use when creating, editing, or evaluating a skill in this collection — writes SKILL.md frontmatter and four sections, generates the Codex adapter, runs the validator, and tunes description triggering. The authoring half of using-skills (which routes/consumes). Triggers on "write a skill", "edit skill", "skill eval", "tune triggers", "写技能", "改技能", "技能评估". Not for routing to an existing skill (use using-skills) or building an MCP server (use mcp-builder if added).

skill-authoring

Methodology for authoring scaffolding-compatible skills: frontmatter contract, body structure, validation. TRIGGER when: running /create-skill, writing or reviewing a SKILL.md file, or deciding if a procedure deserves its own skill. SKIP: distilling a conversation into candidates (use distill); 3-tier memory writes (use agent-memory).
