eisenhower-matrix

Featured

Prioritizes tasks and time allocation using the Eisenhower Matrix, classifying activities into four quadrants by urgency and importance: Do (urgent and important), Schedule (important but not urgent), Delegate (urgent but not important), and Eliminate (neither). Use when overwhelmed by competing demands, auditing how a founder spends their time, designing delegation frameworks, building QII-first weekly calendars, or shifting organizational time allocation from reactive firefighting to strategic work.

Other Foreman layers and the catalog are in `../../content/`, relative to this SKILL.md. # Eisenhower Matrix "What is important is seldom urgent, and what is urgent is seldom important." Dwight D. Eisenhower -- Supreme Allied Commander, thirty-fourth President of the United States, and, by all accounts, a man who managed an extraordinary volume of consequential decisions with unusual composure -- reportedly used this distinction as the organizing principle of his workday. Whether he originated the insight or merely popularized it is debated, but its utility is not. The Eisenhower Matrix (later refined and popularized by Stephen Covey) remains the most widely used prioritization framework in business, and for good reason: it forces a binary distinction that most people instinctively resist. Urgency and importance are different dimensions, and confusing them is the single most common cause of strategic drift in entrepreneurial ventures. --- ## The Framework ### The 2x2 Matrix The matrix classifies every task, decision, or demand on your time into one of four quadrants based on two independent dimensions: urgency (does it demand immediate attention?) and importance (does it contribute to your mission, goals, or values?). ``` URGENT NOT URGENT ┌─────────────────────┬─────────────────────┐ ...

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

decision-making-under-pressure

Provides practical habits for making better decisions faster -- reframing problems before solving them, knowing when to stop deliberating, balancing intuition with analysis, resisting 'just this once' compromises, and breaking overthinking cycles. Use when facing a high-stakes choice with incomplete data, sensing that deliberation has become procrastination, noticing a pattern of deferred decisions, needing to explain decision-making rationale to a team, or recognising that overthinking is degrading output quality.

value-impact-matrix

Prioritizes concepts on a calibrated 2x2 matrix, part of the Design Thinking Pack by Polar Bear. Use this whenever the user says "run value-impact-matrix", "prioritize these concepts", "which ideas first", "make the 2x2", or a set of concepts exists and the team must choose where effort goes. Use it even for "we can't do all of these".
