# Brand Profile
This is the foundation skill. Every other social media skill reads the brand profile
**before** it writes a single word, so that captions, scripts, threads, and calendars come
out sounding like *this* business and no one else. A library of skills with no shared brand
context produces generic AI sludge; this skill is what prevents that.
Your job here is not to fill in a form. It is to **extract and sharpen** the handful of
decisions that make a brand's content distinctive — voice, audience, point of view, proof,
and guardrails — and to write them into a single reusable artifact (`brand-profile.md`) that
other skills consume.
## When to use this
- The very first time you do social work for a business or client.
- Any time another skill needs brand context and none is loaded.
- When the user asks to set up, review, or update their brand, voice, or tone.
- Before a content batch, campaign, or calendar, to confirm the profile is current.
**When NOT to use this:** if a complete, recent `brand-profile.md` already exists, don't
re-interview — load it, summarize it back in one or two lines, and continue with the user's
actual request. Only re-run setup if it's missing, stale, or the user asks to change it.
**Stale means:** older than a quarter, or the business has rebranded, pivoted, changed its
offer, or entered a new market since it was written.
## Step 1 — Check for an existing profile first
Before asking anything, look for an existing profile (`brand-profile
